TIE 2

This course has at times been stressful, difficult and Oh My Goodness will I ever be able to do this!

The process is done and Oh My Goodness what a GREAT LESSON it was!
I Invite you to watch it Full Screen
it is much better than the embedded size.

I learned so many new things during this process. I can use Google Docs, Blogs and Voice Thread with ease now. I really like them all. Technology is the way of the NOW and the FUTURE.
It amazed me that the students already new how to doodle. I had never heard of it.

What worked well?
I think the entire lesson was a SUCCESS! But kind of disappointed that I did not figure out how to have the students doodle and voice respond at the same time. After I met with Dr. Elwood today, she told me it was possible. Well what do you know when I got home and tried again IT DOES! You just have to hit Ctrl and record and type at the same time. Wish my students could have done it that way. There is always Next Time.

What would I do different next time?
Maybe adding the webcam or have the students make a movie from picture slides as I have done below.

Enjoy the Show!
Don't forget to check out the links in Tie ! if you want the Lesson Plan and Power Point

I also thought you might like to view the video clip I used as the Focus (Attention Getter). This clip was made by MGM Studios based on a book from 1963. The kids loved it!

I still have Questions on how to use this technology in the future, so help me out; leave me a comment.

Here are some questions I have?

How could I have gotten peer to peer interaction in this type of lesson?
Would you take an assessment grade from a lesson of this type?
Could it be layered daily to take a summative assessment at the end of a unit?

Check out my Peers see what they are up to.
Leave them a Comment I did!

TIE I

This is the story board for my Voice Thread Lesson that I will be doing for Geometry. I am currently working with my CT to establish good questions utilizing Bloom's Taxonomy and Multiple Intelligence.

Check for updates to my Affordances & Pedagogical Implications documents as I compile what will be a GREAT LESSON for my students! View the complete Power Point and Lesson Plan.

I created this board to use with my lesson. I liked the doodle comments when I previewed other voice thread lessons, so I wanted to be able to utilize this feature in my voice thread lesson. I am planning on providing the students with objectives that they will have to locate and then doodle the exact location on the board slide.

While still in the planning stages I realized that I would need a Student Instructional Poster, if I wanted the students to be able to complete this task with minimal instruction on my part.

Voice Thread

Life coping skills 101
Today my team created our voice thread. One of the slides I posted was an image from Google images of a beach in Puerto Rico. The other slides were slides I created in word documents and are sayings that I have read and liked. My fellow teammates and I posted images of things that help us cope. This was a fun and interesting experience. It was a little slow going but we got the hang of it. I am looking forward to implementing this tool with my class.
I also became familiar with Google docs and would like to share two things with you. Bloom's Multiple Intelligences and Pedagogical Implications .

Technology Intergration Experience (TIE) Thoughts

Mr Wilson's fourth grade reflections voice thread was created to showcase his student's memories of their school year. The students post their favorite memories of the school year. Each student also shares a short audio message about the picture. I would like to use this to have students compile an end of unit cross content study. Students would partner up and summarize through investigation findings, writing, readings and picture what they learned in their assigned content area through out the unit. At the beginning of each new unit groups would change their content area (math, language, science, social studies) to report on. All students would complete their individual work during the unit but they would teach what they learned in a specific content to the class. Students learn from each other. The ending of this thread is done by the teacher, I assume; I encourage you to watch it.

Picture Writing is a showcase of poems and art work written by Mrs. Mattson's third grade class. This voice thread was set up differently than the previous one I mentioned. I had to move through each slide manually. The students art work and poem appears, you hear the student read the poem and you also see icons and hear audio from what I assume is other thread comments about the student's work.  I liked the interaction of this thread and would like to use it with my students as a way to showcase to their parents what they are working on.
NOTE: The initial letter explaining the technology based lesson requirements that was sent to my CT is available from my Google docs,  just follow link from the word letter!
